How to: Tribe and Community
Submitted by AaronD on Wed, 2008-04-02 17:23. Building | community | personal growth | TribeI'd like to share my personal "What it took to get here" story so that others might find use or hope or inspiration.
I currently live in an Intentional Community. If I was the same person with the same mindset and emotional patterns and the same job as the guy 5 years ago, I never would have "seen" that a place like this existed. So how did I get here?

South Street Summer Market: Adventures in Micro Business
Submitted by Adam Hintz on Tue, 2007-11-06 18:45. Business | community | Economy | LincolnIn September some fellow business owners, local crafts-folk and I started a small arts and crafts market on South Street, three blocks down from Meadowlark.
The whole idea behind this is to support the arts and crafts community and connect the community at large. With the new plaza built this summer it was a perfect commons area for us to come together.

community and proximity
Submitted by Ludi on Sat, 2007-10-06 16:22. community | Tribe | Chit ChatThe main difficulty I'm having in finding/making a tribe is proximity. Though I know a few people in "real life" who share my values, we're very spread out geographically. One lives approx 30 miles away, another recently moved 150 miles away.

Ish Group - Puget Sound Area
Submitted by surrealswirls on Mon, 2007-10-01 02:57. community | Culture | Meetings | Regional & Local Groups | Seattle | WACharlie (bbbleaver) and I just got together with our significant others and had our first Puget Sound Ish Group meeting today! We had a wonderful brunch of fritattas, fresh strawberries, banana nectarine smoothies, organic hot cocoa and rosemary bread, at their home. A friend of theirs from the Atlanta Ish Group happened to be staying with them and joined us as well. We're going to start meeting every two weeks to share good conversation and good food, establishing a local community of people with a shared common vision.

10k Ways 2007 This Weekend!!
Submitted by Adam Hintz on Mon, 2007-08-06 18:28. community | networking | Sustainabiliy | The Future | Unschooling | Ashland | ORWelcome to Ten Thousand Ways!
Ten Thousand Ways seeks to organize gatherings where tribal-minded people from up and down the Pacific Coast come together to share ideas, make plans, and network. Many of us have read the books of Daniel Quinn (Ishmael, Story of B, My Ishmael), studied deep ecology and animism or feel a strong tie to the land around us. However, coming to our event requires none of this; just arrive with an open mind!

My Mother's Death (July 10, 2007)
Submitted by TwoRoadsTom on Sat, 2007-07-14 06:03. Animism | community | Culture | Death | Family | Traditions | All in the Family | Ashland OR | Los Angeles CAThe mother of my heart passed away this week.
I suppose I could use terms like "mother-in-law." I could further compound it by using the proper term "stepmother-in-law." Or I could confuse it by telling you what I always called her -- Mom.
