Because I haven't been around here very long, I didn't want to make any assumptions about posting links to blogs by people that I know are already involved with IshCon/IshThink/10kways. I don't know why. It just didn't seem right.

And here is a description of what Survival International is all about: Survival is the only international organisation supporting tribal peoples worldwide. It was founded in 1969 after an article by Norman Lewis in the UK's Sunday Times highlighted the massacres, land thefts and genocide taking place in Brazilian Amazonia. Like many modern atrocities, the racist oppression of Brazil's Indians took place in the name of 'economic growth'.
Today, Survival has supporters in 82 countries. It works for tribal peoples' rights in three complementary ways: education, advocacy and campaigns. We also offer tribal people themselves a platform to address the world. We work closely with local indigenous organisations, and focus on tribal peoples who have the most to lose, usually those most recently in contact with the outside world.
We believe that public opinion is the most effective force for change. Its power will make it harder, and eventually impossible, for governments and companies to oppress tribal peoples.

In 1939 a group of medical doctors in Cheshire, England, published a testament in which they condemned modern medicine as a failure and pointed to nutrition as the only true source of public health. Sir Albert Howard and Robert McCarrsion also spoke at a meeting regarding this testament. All the letters and documents are here presented. See: Yellowlees. "Ill Fares The Land"
"Cheshire Medical Testament." With additional testimony and letters of Albert Howard, Sir Robert McCarrsion and Lionel Picton.

Christian, Eugene. Uncooked Foods & How to Use Them: a treatise on how to get the highest form of animal energy from food, With Recipes for Preparation, Healthful Combinations and Menus. New York: The Health-Culture Company, 1924.
Perhaps this book is not underpinned with the most up to date and correct science of human digestion, still, getting interesting raw food recipes is always valuable. Many of the recipes make me wish I could get unpasteurized whole milk and cream. Many thanks are owed to Linda Sheard of the UK, who donated a clean photocopy of this book so it could be scanned. Downloads as a PDF of 702 kb. PUBLIC DOMAIN.
DeVries, Arnold. Primitive Man and His Food. Chicago, 1952, probably self-published.
Tracks down all the threads, re-asks all the questions, re-examines all existing literature (as of 1952) about why some places and peoples had superior health. An excellent job! Arnold DeVries was an American researcher, writer and hygienist, who in the 1950's changed from being a fruitarian, as he had advocated in his first book, Fountain of Youth, 1946, to having a different understanding of optimum human nutrition, as expressed in (Primitive Man and His Food, 1952, Elixir of Life, 1952). These later books are along the lines of Weston Price's ideas. Downloads as a single PDF of about 350 kb. OUT OF PRINT

Hi
Wow tons, you got some great links there, I want to share too!
thanks, JJ
a vast sea of ripples touching...
share them links! yum, links.
here are some that have special significance - they are cultural paradigms that are being used, practiced, embodied throughout the world to alter or change heart (mind), body, spirit to "reset" our lost ancestoral memory. whew, does that sound convoluted or what! nevertheless these are real and the ones i either have experience with or know others who are personally engaged with...

original play is championed by dr fred donaldson. freddy bear litterally played with wild wolves, manatees, and others to uncover what he knew lay beneath his civil tension filled exterior. now he plays with young folk all over the world. i am currently mentoring under a 73 year old friend here in the north west- www.originalplaynorthwest.org is our site.
if you're looking for non-violent, non-competitive ways of being with young people (ie. ala continumm concept) this will blow your mind. it is purely experiential.
b.
marshall rosenberg is the name behind Nonviolent Communication but insists that there is nothing new about what he is trying to share with the world.
to look at a tribe and dig into what keeps them together, what is it that is behind their success is a deep and unending empathetic connection to one another. the practice of nvc is not just some type of new fangled communication skill but rooted in the now and the continual touching on the sacred within us and all.

Glean the Planet

Internet-based maps transform how communities share food resources.
Portland, Oregon November 2007 -
Glean the Planet is a web site designed to facilitate the redistribution
of community and individual food resources. The
site-www.gleantheplanet.com- offers both discussion forums and open
source mapping software from Google maps and Platial.com. By allowing
users to map specific locations and illustrate them with pictures and
additional detailed information, this mapping software helps people
facilitate the local sharing of food outside of monetary-based
economies.
For instance, if you know of a food baring tree, a stand of bamboo or a
healthy dumpster in your neighborhood, you can plot it on Glean the
Planet's maps. You find the map of your state and make an entry. Then
add web links, text, and photos to your entries and others'.
Glean The Planet was created in February of 2007 by Dock Whoosie, a 28yr
old living in Portland, Oregon.
"My activism has shifted focus lately. I am working a lot on myself and
my relationships. Understanding the non-human world around me has been a
key focus of my time this past year. In reevaluating the definition of
sustainability I have found a need to be more critical of the way I
consume...going beyond purchasing decisions at a store or gas pump, to
building a direct subsistence relationship with the land base where I
live. Politically, I am playing a supportive role with the construction
of Glean the Planet, building infrastructure that
supports the change I desire." --Dock Whoosie
Visit www.gleantheplanet.com, then go out to harvest with your friends
and neighbors and share in building a catalog of food sources outside of
the market!
