IshmaelHouston Group: Fireworks, Potluck Dinner, Homeless Documentary Viewing

PM me for address and directions.
Monthly "Floating" Meeting and Activity:
Fireworks, Homeless Documentary Viewing and Potluck Dinner
Friday, June 1
Time: 7PM til ?
Place: Amanda's waterfront home in Seabrook, Texas
Come on down to beautiful Seabrook (between Houston and Galveston)
for a fun AND educational night! Arrive any time after 7PM for a
potluck dinner and drinks. (Please bring a food or drink item to
share.) At 8PM, we will watch the locally produced
documentary, "Beneath the Bridges", about the homeless in Houston
(or as Quinn calls them, The Tribe of Crow). This documentary was
shot and directed by a DJ at radio station KRBE who was curious
about the homeless people he saw every day on his way to work in
Downtown Houston. There are interviews with homeless people,
homeless shelter employees, and community activists. For more info,
go to www.beneaththebridges.com/ . The film is an hour and 17
minutes long.
At 9:30PM, we will head outside on the deck or in the yard/street
and watch the fireworks show that takes place at Kemah Boardwalk
across the river. This is a really nice fireworks display that they
have on Fridays in June and July. It lasts about 20 minutes.

Non-Ish family and friends are welcome! However, if you plan to
bring small children, please warn me ahead of time so I can do some
childproofing.
I suggest that group members carpool if possible. It's fun and it's
good for the environment!
Stuff you should know:
* There is a dog and 2 cats on the premises, so if you are allergic,
bring your meds.
*House is up 1 flight of stairs with no handicapped access.
*No smoking inside, please. You can smoke on the deck, in the yard
or in the driveway.
