*IMPORTANT* Promoting posts to front page
Hi everyone,
I believe that the voting option is ready for general testing. Every registered user has been granted the ability to give/remove one vote (points) from blog entries. For now I've set it so that 10 points are required for a blog post to appear on the front page.
When viewing a post, you will notice a little box with UP/DOWN arrows. You can click on this directly to vote up, or down. You can also "not vote" at all of course.
The number of points up to now is showing at the bottom of a posting.
I hope this resolves the issue of how to determine the best material for the front page. Please let me know how you like/dislike it, and tell me about any issues you may encounter with it.

I know this is picky but I find the current placement of the arrows a bit intrusive. I like the opacity of them, so that's not a problem, it's just that it pushes the first few lines of text over and interrupts the 'flow' of reading posts.
And because I like looking at them, have a few smileys on the house:

Yes, like anything else on the site, they can be put anywhere. I'm just not going to spend time on layout for a while, until we've pretty much settled into what features and modules we'll be using.Â
It takes quite a bit of time and energy to theme a site properly, and that's not even counting the time it'll take to do the design first, whomever will do that..
I might look and see what I can do if I can move it to besides the title for example?

Hi folks,
I've changed the Blog voting system, I think it's going to be better now.
You'll notice that the UP/DOWN arrows are gone, and replaced with 3 choices at the bottom. The choices for voting are: Â
- Should be Removed  -1
- Regular Stuff         0
- Front Page Material    1
The amount of votes neded is still 10 points to get to front page, and if something gets -10 points, it will be unpublished (Not deleted, just turned off pending review)
I'm sorry if older votes disappeared because of this, please remember we are still in testing mode. I think that all existing blog posts shoudl be promoted to the front page right now, and we can start voting on teh new creations..

Just to clarify, you have to go to the blog itself to see the voting option (it's not visible on the front page). I think this is a good change myself
