New Paintings, Nature Themes
Submitted by surrealswirls on Fri, 2007-04-13 22:16.It's been forever and a day since I visited this site, but I'd like you all to know I've been busily painting life, nature, and of course naked women. I'm writing and illustrating a children's book about environmental consciousness. I hope to get it published when I finish writing it. I don't know whatever happened to the IshCon CD. I never recieved a demo to create the cover for it or heard from anyone about coordinating that, so I hope you guys got it together alright. I'm still looking forward to 10 Thousand Ways this summer.Â

Can Art Be a Catalyst for a New Culture?
Submitted by surrealswirls on Sat, 2007-02-10 06:00. Architecture | Art | Machines | Modernism | Saving the World | Technology"'It is obvious,' wrote Aldous Huxley in 1928, 'that the machine is here to stay. Whole armies of William Morrises and Tolstoys could not now expel it... Let us then exploit them to create beauty - a modern beauty, while we are about it.'" - Megg's History of Graphic Design, Fourth Edition. (I must add that I originally read this in *I believe* an essay by Huxley, but I cannot for the life of me now find the original source. I own a lot of Huxley's works, including many of his short essays. I do not believe it was in a full book though. I came across the quote again in this graphic design textbook though, which prompted this blog entry).

Well, here is what I have so far. I'm working with Photoshop Illustrator in my graphic design class to give it some color and turn the image into vector lines, but I wanted to at least show you what I've got so far because it's been taking me so long. Learning all these programs has been a lot more difficult than I anticipated - it's been a REALLY steep learning curve.Let me know what you guys think. If we don't like it I will scratch it and come up with something else.
